I have went back and forth with this for over a year. Do I really need a CB in my tow vehicle or not?This year there has been two or three times where we were stopped in traffic out in the middle of no where and wondered what could be happening up ahead and/or how much longer would traffic be stopped. It would have been nice to have a CB then.I finally broke down and got a HH Cobra unit. Haven't tried it out yet on the road.How many full timers, or folks that travel a lot have CB's in their vehicle? Do you have regular hard wired CB units, or HH (hand held)?

I took an old hand held a couple times just for the novelty of it. After a couple miles of hearing nuttin' but nuttin', I turned it off and kept it off.

We have one under the truck seat and it is on all the time but has the squelch up all the way. Only picks up CH19 and what is very close to us. The language is so bad just hate to listen to any of it... Mine is an older COBRA CB mobile unit.It is only to listen to the truckers talking about road conditions.In all the years I have had it I can't recall ever hearing another RV'er on it...We also carry the FRS radios when at camping sites... They work like gang busters and have private line etc. Only hear each other... Also have noticed some towns like Gatlinburg has a FRS repeater network which really covers the whole town from the close-by mountains...Of course everyone has cell phones so that gets used alot between us as well...Roy Ken

Having CB saved me a few bucks recently when I neglected to lock window on my fifth wheel . Trucker notified me by CB that I had a window flapping in the breeze. Always have turned on and finding language much tamer than a few years ago.

Quit using one maybe 30 years ago. Never missed it.
