The banks I have accounts with all have big bold disclaimers that they will NEVER call or send an Email requesting identifying information. Since the approval of a transaction would, by definition, require giving that information, I will never get a phone or email request to approve a transaction.
However, I do have my credit cards set up to automatically send me a text every time a transaction is conducted. That way I immediately would know if my account was compromised. And yes, they have on occasion placed a hold on my account until I contacted them. Not a big problem, since they release the hold immediately and merchants are all aware that this happens from time to time. Not a problem I lose sleep over.
