The biggest concern I see is that you are asking the question. That suggests to me that you are accustomed to spending at least $5k/month if not more currently (no negative implications are implied).
None taken. :)
Actually, our current expense is somewhat less than 5k/month because we have no mortgage payment and the car is fully paid off. Fortunately, we are currently able to save some money towards the retirement and will continue to do so during full-timing - we don't consider this period as retirement. I'm just trying to reduce any chance of negative surprises before we start full-timing.I suggest you lay out your budget and add up everything. It's certainly doable but the question is can you do it while maintaining the lifestyle you are accustomed to?
Yes, I did this already, and it came out significantly under 5k/month hence the curiosity if I did this right. Our desired life style isn't very fancy - we just want more opportunity to hike in the nature and comfortable place to watch some TV/work/sleep. Perhaps a nice dining out meals once or twice a week. :)
Sounds like you are in good shape. Just keep track of the budget for the first few months as some people have trouble realizing it's a lifestyle change not a vacation but otherwise, sounds like you have a good plan.
