Escapees RV Club

What are the advantages of belonging to escapees RV Club? We are snowbirds. The only traveling is from one season a lot to another( Michigan to Florida). We will be traveling a little between destinations.
  • I full time and belong to Escapees. #1, it's simply a great organization. I have also gotten use from parks that give discounts to Escapees folks. And I have stayed in several of the Escapee owned CGs.

One of my all time favorite parks is an Escapees park located about 30 miles outside Yosemite National Park. I'm still considering getting on the list for a lot there.
  • OP: I'd say for you there would be no benefit since you're just going from home to a snowbird location. However, their bi-monthly magazine is top-notch with articles written by RVers and very little advertising.

The Escapees Club started out about 35 years ago by a traveling, young working couple as a way of sharing knowledge and helping others out there doing the same. It is an extremely helpful Club for full-timers with getting registration and domicile issues worked out and has a fantastic mail forwarding service.

It has some home parks and some co-op parks scattered in the southern and western states that can be used year-round. It also publishes a book of normal, private campgrounds throughout the country that give discounts on nightly fees - similar to Passport America.

It has a yearly Escapade (rally) (Vermont this year) with many classes offered and also a Boot Camp for new RVers.

At it's home headquarters in Livingston, TX it has a awesome CARE facility where members can go to recoup after surgery or illness. They can stay in their own RV, have a community meal, housekeeping done, transportation for medical appts. and other perks. It has medical personnel on hand. As folks get older and don't travel anymore, you can even stay there permanently while living in your RV.

We've been members for over 20 years and we've met some wonderful people through the organization. To get the most out of it you have to get involved with it. It's not just about campgrounds.
  • We belong to Escapees and use their mail service. In almost 2 years, the only Escapee park we've used was the Livingston, TX headquarters park. The times we tried to schedule into SKP parks, they didn't take reservations (AZ and FL) and I was t going to travel across country with no guarantee of a space. For discounts, we've gotten much more out of PassPort America and GoodSams. With that said, we maintain our membership because Escapees does actively lobby for the FullTime RV population and that makes it worthwhile to us.
  • Xscapers is part of the Escapee Club just aimed at the younger folks. Every year the discount parks are updated in the Escapee Discount Park book. We use numerous ones.
  • Their parks are very nice, but don't expect any membership discounts at any other RV park. I think I know of one who discounts Escapees.. Snowville UT.

Doesn't sound like you need to belong for your travels. They're geared for fulltimers who need good mail service and help with residency.
  • Good parks to stay at even if just for one night. $5.00 to dry camp and use dump station. They are also advocates for all of us and operate the CARE center in Livingston Texas. It's a good organization.

  • I, too, am currently looking at Escapees membership. Although I don't need the mail service (I'm happy with the one I have), I look at it as helping fund lobbying issues favorable to full-timers.
  • Florida has two nice SKP parks. Big advantage is how little the cost to stay compared to other Private parks for such a small annual fee ($29.00)that comes with a great magazine. You can even get a long term leased or ERPU lot, and have a home base. Can't go wrong.
