Exit Stratagy

Okay, I agree you should have some idea of what you might do if you can't or decide not to continue RV'ing at some point. What I don't understand is why some of the same folks who say how freeing it is to get rid of everything and fulltime, seem to think you have to purchase another house or condo at some later point. When I sell this one, I have no plan to buy another ever. I do plan to use the farm (we grow trees) that has been in my family since the land grand days as my home base, but will not stay there once I can't travel anymore. It is too far from medical or any other type of service or needs. At that point, I will not be wanting to mow roads, maintain tractors or any of those type things. I will find an apartment, probably in a senior complex of some type, so that someone else can be responsible for fixing things.

Unless you happened to sell the house in 2008 in one of the inflated areas. Then you could re-buy it for about half what you sold it for. Or buy it for a downsized house for even less.

2gypsies, you may be right. I don't know. We did the rv thing 25 years ago for about 4.5 years before we settled in FL. We both love the Smokies, tho. I like AZ, too. DH not so much. Actually, my idea of perfection would be a couple acres with a small cabin and an RV pad in TN, where the family is only a few hours away, and another patch in AZ with an RV pad. Right now, that sounds like an awful lot of property responsibility.

I'd highly advise that you don't buy property until you've traveled the country more in the next ten years. Just like Florida for you, the place you choose might not be where you'd like to settle after 10 years of traveling.

We have been traveling around the country looking for areas we enjoy. We spent the last 20 years in Florida, but it's really not for us anymore. We'll pick up a piece of property in the next year or two. Then, in the next ten or twelve years when we want to stay put more, we can build a small house and put an RV pad on it so our camping friends can come visit.
