I agree with others. Head south young man. First I would choose a domicile state with low taxes such as SD, TX, or FL (if you haven’t done yet). Escapees website has tons on that.

SC/GA have plenty of state parks and the weather is mild most of the winter. Although not full time yet, we notice plenty of full timers at the KOA in St. Mary’s, GA, and Jeckle Island SP in GA.

Why not then head west in I10 to Quartzite? Plenty of FT’s there to learn from.

Tom, first of all welcome to the Forum. Feel free to ask whatever you want.
You will find many knowledgeable People here that are eager to help. We were once all new to RVing. Do not be afraid to ask.
I would recommend that you head south.
While many Walmarts do not allow overnighting anymore, they are very nice.
We were in Connecticut once. The Walmart that we stopped at did not allow overnights, but they did tell us about one close by that did.
If you pull a 5th Wheel, make sure you stress that it is an RV.
We told one Lady that we had a 5th Wheel, she thought we were talking about a big Semi. I then said it is an RV. They allowed overnights for RVs but not Semis.
My Wife and I stay every Winter at the Mission Bell Resort in Mission, TX.
Mission is about 9 Miles from Mexico. Mission is right next to McAllen.
It is situated in the Riogrande Valley of south Texas. The People there welcome you. It is very nice.

Tom, if you haven't found Escapees forum yet, go over and introduce yourself there. Probably the largest number of fulltimers are on Escapees, since the company was founded to take care of fulltime RVers by fulltime RVers.

Have you figured out what you will do about mail, voting, DL, vehicle registration, etc. I'm assuming you will want to 'move' to a tax friendlier state - SD, FL, & TX all are RV friendly and no state income tax.

Follow the 2-2-2 plan - 200 miles per day, in a park by 2:00 pm, stay at least 2 days. That way you are rested when you drive, you are off the road before any 'rush' hour and will be able to relax while everyone else is trying to get into the last few small spots, and you will get a chance to maybe visit some local places of interests.

As said, anywhere south of I-10 is good for the winter. We enjoy the desert, so we are here from October to April.
