full-timing and credit rating

I have one credit card i pay off every month. The last time I bought a TV they tried to talk me into financing so I let them run a credit check just to see what came back. It was 0.

I normally keep my credit history locked.

My credit score was over 800 when we left 6 years ago to full time, and its Still over 800 now, so no effect.

There is a prevalent myth that one must incur debt to "improve" ones' "score". BALDERDASH!

The last time I owed anyone anything was 20 years ago on a house payment which actually accrued me interest, but that's a different story.

We currently hold 9 credit cards, all of which pay US for using them. I have held a multitude of cards for 43 years and have never paid a single penny for the privilege. Do the CC companies hate people like me? Probably. But that doesn't stop them from extending even more "credit". Across those 9 cards we have in excess of a half million in "available" funds.

Having exhaustively typed all of that I will note that in our 15th year of ROVING fulltiming I am at 841 and she is at 839.

It cannot be emphasized enough: DEBT FREE

After five years fulltiming my credit rating is still over 800. Must be my good looks.

That is correct. Some states, including California, don't allow insurance companies to use credit scores to determine premiums.

And? Knowing how to use credit wisely can actually be a plus for you. And never, ever, say "Never". No one knows what the future may hold and whether or not a debt might mean a better life later on.

I full-time (for 5 years) and have a Discover credit card. Discover reports my credit score each month on my bill. Credit score for Aug was 843. I think 850 is the max credit score. When I had a stick home the score was in the mid to low 700's

So no full-timing will not hurt your score. I may help it.

Never had an issue with our credit rating as full-timers for 16 years. We easily got vehicle insurance. Our credit card is paid in full monthly and don't owe anything.

There's also the CLUE report. But I don't think that's connected to FICO.
