Just for perspective.......
We got caught in a freak winter ice storm in southern NM 2011.
Temps dropped to -14*F with snow/ice. Temps avg. roughly 0-5*F for 2 weeks.
We have a well insulated 5vr. Rv Furnace kept us roasty-toasty 66*F (could have easily warmed rig up much higher but 66*F was comfy with lap blankets/1500W space heater and we were trying to conserve on propane usage (furnace/oven/stove)
Refilling 30# propane cylinder (7.5/gal) every day. $300/2 weeks....YEAH!
Now maybe we could have cut that cost a bit with skirting/heat lamp under 5vr.
But when it is below freezing.......propane costs go UP.
And that doesn't take into account.....going/getting propane.
Dealing with snow/ice on roof/slide outs.
Keeping plumbing from freezing
Dumping tanks
Etc.
Winter in an rv can be done........but only if I really, really had to!
