Look at this blog- they fulltimed with 6 kids for quite a while. I am sure she wouldn't mind if you wanted to reach out.

I don't think you are crazy at all. Kids need stability? They have that if you give them the time and attention they need. Actually easier to do that if you are traveling as a family- let them have significant input on destinations etc.
To hedge, you could put SOME of your household goods in storage- we did that, and kept everything for 7 years, at which time we decided to build a new house ( NOT in the same state we were in before).
Time with our kids is so short- if it feels right for your family- DO IT.
In our case our kids were full grown, so it wasn't a consideratiion.
