So you have to stay near work for 2 weeks and then can travel for 2 weeks. Why "full-time"?
Why not just buy an RV and use it to travel during the 2 weeks you're off work? Then the 2 weeks you're working stay in your stick & bricks. Your kids will get the benefits of traveling and you don't risk not being able to get back to a house if you don't like it.
Since your kids are homeschooled, then there isn't a problem with "taking them out" every 2 weeks - they can continue their schooling on the road.
If you are trying to downsize, then how about selling your current house, buying a smaller one and buying the RV for the 2 week travels.
As long as you're working, you won't be able to truly full-time, so just forget that thought process. Instead, focus on how to travel during your 2 weeks off without giving up your S&B.
Best advice I've seen on this thread thus far.
