We aren't fulltiming yet, but aspire to get there in the future. I was wondering what type/size setups have worked for you. Are you pulling trailers? Big RVs and toads? Camper vans? etc... I know budget plays a role in this, but I'm guessing that trying to do it in a popup trailer would be tough. We need to figure out what works and how much we need to save. I'd also be interested in hearing what didn't work for you.Thanks.

Giving up planes and hotels, we (my wife consults with hospital systems around the country) walked into a dealer and bought a 29' Keystone trailer... thinking we were being efficient by staying a little on the small side and being frugal. Used it for about a year before we realized more closet space as well as "basement" storage were true necessities. We took a bath selling that trailer.Currently have a 41' diesel pusher and the remaining four-door pickup. We sure wish we would have bought the larger rig first... would have saved a ton of money .

Once you start thinking about one or the other you'll find that there are people quite happy with either one and that there are good reasons for using either one over the other.Visit RV shows or major consignment lots where you can spend lots of time pretending you live in the different rigs. Also, do just what you are doing here: hang out on the forums and read what people are doing. This forum, the Escapees forum, and two or three others are great places to learn about fulltiming.

We started out in a 31 ft gas class A. It got to small fast. We then went to the coach in our signature and are very happy.

YOU need to determine how much space you'll need to live in. Some people live in a Class B (van sized), some in a Class C others in a Class A or Travel Trailer or 5th Wheel. Also each has it's pros and cons. The best way for you to test the waters is to rent an RV for a week or two, start with the type you think you would like. Then try another type for a couple of weeks. I say a couple because any shorter and you haven't really given it a try. Soon you will determine what type you like and want to live in.

We full time in a 33' Country Coach Allure with 2 slides with no problem. We tow a 4 wheel drive 4 door Chevy Colorado pickup. Depend on where you want to camp. We like Corps of Engineers parks and state parks so we wanted a shorter rig. If you're going to camp in resort type parks with long level pull thrus you could do with a longer rig.
