Fulltiming with the Senior Pass

We've been fulltiming for about a year and a half and my husband just got his Senior Pass. I'm particularly excited about this. We really prefer public campgrounds over private and I think this will open up a whole new aspect to this already great lifestyle.

I just wanted to start this thread to get some feedback on how other fulltimers use their pass. Any favorite campgrounds? Anybody use their pass almost exclusively-just going from one federal campground to the next? Any tips, suggestions or stories would be greatly appreciated!

We're going to be doing a quick trip back East soon through Kansas, Missouri, etc., taking mostly Route 50 and then 70 through Indiana, Ohio, etc so if you know of anything we should check out along that route that would be great, too.
  • We live near a # of national monuments and national parks (Crater Lake). We use it every time we go in one and have, in fact, used it for camping. We camped at a BLM park near Moab and went to the Arches Natl. Park -- all for half price. Unfortunately, the govt. was shut down and we had to go to private campgrounds. We, too, prefer public campgrounds or boondocking over private rv parks.

    Have a blast!!!!!
  • We use ours whenever we can. Actually in three years we've saved over $1000 in park entry and camping fees. The pass is good at just about every Federal Park or campground; Nat'l Parks, Nat'l Monuments, BLM, COE etc. and we've used them all from FL to WA and everywhere in between. It's a great senior benefit.
