Good deal?

My wife and I are going to try and close a deal today on a Jayco Octane travel trailer toy hauler. The dealer we are going to has the best ratings in the area. We really liked the sales people (and we have been everywhere). We really like the unit. We are wondering about price. They are asking 53k. Nada is at 56k. How much should we haggle? The only other one I found on rvtrader of this make and model was 485 miles away and they were asking $10,000 more. The dealer is Manteca RV in California. We wnt there on a referal from a customer of theirs we met at an RV show a few months back.

A) anyone have experience with this line?
B) anyone have advise on price?
  • Is this a new or used unit? On new most people will say start a 35% off the sticker price. You could check RV trader for similar models, and also go to NADA and price one out.
  • make sure the price is out the door NO ADD ON FEES they quote a low price up front then tag on a bunch od hidden fees, only price you want is out the door price.

    Excellent advice.

I agree with both the above who stated this ... the ONLY number you should look at is how big is the check you write. Out-the-door price is all that matters.

Get that price in writing, with ALL fees, taxes, etc and then you know.
  • Yes, don't get charged $800 for a PDI, that should be part of the normal selling process. I have seen this before.
