in America we are allowed to have guns. Some of us choose to protect our families at home and on the road. Better to be taken in by two, then carried out by six. Just my .02 cents. If you break down on the side of the road at night, there is also the chance of someone not so kind also stopping to not help you out. Police take an average of 4 minutes to get where they need to be. An altercation can happen in seconds. A gun can even the playing field or trump a crazy person. It is up to you. Some don't mind the potential of becoming a victim,, some choose not to be one. O,, I shoot on my property. Ammo might be expensive, but so is gas, milk, etc...lol.
