Hi Dianne,
My goal is to point out that gun ownership comes with high risks. Since no one on RVnet claims to have whipped out a weapon for defense, why is taking that risk valid?
So it is off topic to talk about consequences of gun ownership? So be it.
They won't be able to travel to Canada with firearms--and Ontario alone has more campgrounds than the whole of the USA.DianneOK wrote:

I think a small percentage of RV'ers are on RV net. I have been concerned only twice in my life and no one know if or when the next time will be. I was raised on a farm in the mid west and we had rifles and shot guns but no hand guns. When I was 14 mom and dad left me and my sister home while they went to town (15 miles away) to go shopping. Someone came to our door and wanted to borrow, use the phone. I didn't know the person so I refused to let him in. He insisted until I picked up the shot gun that was in the living room and racked the slide, he turn and left. The other time and Im much older. We were camping in the desert alone and about 3AM someone drove to within a few feet of the camper door. Two of them got out and started walking around. I had no idea what they were up to and didn't ask. I reached for my Ruger SR40 sat up in bed and pointed it at the door. Had they forced open door I would have opened fire. They walked around for a little bit and then left. They didn't take anything. I didn't turn on a light or make any sounds. No one knows if or when then next time will be that I may need to defend myself, but I will be ready. I have no need, desire, or reason to ever go to Canada so not worried at Canadian laws
