Just kinda wondering, since we plan to begin traveling a bit more in the future when retirement kicks in: Do any of you full timers hang on to a S&B home base even though you travel most of the time?

When we started full time it was an easy decision to make, the house had to go. In Illinois property taxes are extremely expensive. It just didn't make any sense to keep the house. We located a nice CG in our home area that would rent us the same site each summer. We returned to that site for three to four months every year so that we could visit kids/grandkids and take care of any doctor visits.
We have recently purchased a home in SW Florida. The property taxes are about 1/5 of what our Illinois property taxes were. We will use this home for winter stays without the fiver.
I think it just depends on your individual financial situation plus what area of the U.S. your home is located in will dictate annual expenses for keeping that home.
