You said you ran out of 100 gal of water in 4 days while with your son. When we want to conserve fresh water while dry camping, 12.5 gallons per person per day is not conserving, IMHO. We bring bottled water and will also bring reused gallon containers from home and store them for use in drinking and cooking. Navy showers will only use maybe 2 gallons each day, and that's my biggest water user. our toilet fills with the amount of water we choose. So not much water is used for #1. We just add some more water for #2. So the toilet only uses maybe a couple of gallons per person per day. For washing dishes, our rinse bucket becomes the wash bucket the next day - we insert plastic basins into the sink and we use paper for less dish washing.
All of this is when we try and conserve on water. But most of the time we need to find some shore power after about 5 days for our battery anyway, so for us electrical conservation is our biggest issue.
