How low is too low

Question

I have a 5th wheel with a single step ,I purchased a new double folding two step stair . It is 3 inches lower to the ground when folded up and closed . It seems too low to me but I don.t have others to compare to. I took it back off fear full of damage

How much clearance to the ground.  Less concern if your close to the axles than if near the bumper.  Beverley and Ken

Is it lower than everything else that is going to hit, at that position? Has whatever is already there having problems hitting the ground while moving?

Those are my two standards when thinking about adding something that might hang down.
