Yes. Go to Walmart and get "eclipse" curtains on sale and have DW make ones to fit from that material. Light and heat insulating.

Let her make the curtains for YOUR HOME. It is part of the nesting instinct.
Who cares if it works because in the end "IF MAMA AIN'T HAPPY AIN'T NOBODY HAPPY.
If her ideas do not work then you are safe. If you idea is wrong then are you really ahead?

I have blackout/insulating curtains in almost every window in my S&B and yes they are worth it. I bought mine from Penneys and have considered buying more and cutting down for windows in TT. I think quilted fabric will be even more insulated than the blackout, but let DW put whichever she likes best. The window coverings in most RV's are UGLY. Let her put her own personal stamp on it. I am most likely going to continue using the reflectix panels in my TT windows and go to the insulated curtains when I purchase my future fulltime rig in a few years.

When my day night shade broke on the road in sweltering Florida in summer I picked up room darkening drapes and a shower curtain rod at the Dollar Store of all places!

Real inexpensive, look great and did the trick until I could get the shades repaired......only thing is they look so good and work so great for keeping the sun and cold out....I decided to leave them up and buy another pair for the other side window!! :B

I put them over the day night shades. One tension shower curtain rod fits perfectly under the valance of RV windows. Open them when I need them, close them when not needed. Makes a big difference in winter and summer in a MH.

DIY quilted curtains will probably insulate better than the store bought variety since you control the specifications. Want to control the costs and quality with less work on your end? Buy a ready made quilt and cut to size.

We live in the high desert of Oregon --- temps get hot and COLD (minus 40 last winter at night). We use these throughout the house. When my chair was next to the front window I could tell a BIG difference when they were opened and when they were closed.

OP -- I've used the eclipse curtains in one of our RVs.... :) :) Go for it!!!

The LARGE day/night shade across rear window in our 5vr was a pain to open close.........two person job and they didn't really do much for blocking heat/cold thru that large rear window.

Walmart......curtains (might have been "eclipse") 4 panels/3 rod holders/supports and 1 rod.
Took day/night shade down.installed the curtains........dramatically reduced the amount of heat/cold transfer thru that window.
And real easy to open/close them.

When I sold my sticks n bricks home, the new owners replaced the "thermal drapes" with mini-blinds and wondered why their heating bill was so high.

I had given them copies of my gas bills for the previous five years so they could see what to expect for heating costs. In the first winter; their gas usage was 50% higher than my five year average. Factored in was "heating degree days".

They also cut down two 40 year old silver maples which kept the house in the shade most of the day in summer. Yup that combined with removing the drapes resulted in electric power usage that was double mine.

I had covers made from insulbrite. They are held in place with perimeter velcro.

I used 17 yards of material that cost $400 usd.

As suggested, you can buy ready-made quilts and make your own to save money. Even better is to go to a GoodWill or other store of the same type, and buy good slightly used quilts to work with.
