Is Full Time what you expected?

I guess I did enough research about other full-timer's experiences and what exactly I would need to do money-wise to support the lifestyle before I hit the road, that it really has been pretty close to what I expected it to be. There have been a couple surprises of course, but I kinda figured that would happen too.

The first six months were the hardest as I adjusted to being comfortable with myself and the vastly different social scene and how 'working' works when you travel (I'm young, and not independently wealthy so I still need to earn my living). The small living quarters and less "stuff" didn't bother me a bit, I never was big on Stuff anyway and only used a fraction of my shared apartment when I was living stationary.

The second six months were enlightening and quite frankly a blast. Now I'm heading into my second year and stoked for what the future might hold on the open road. :)

Agree with you. Totally different, but can't imagine being a sticks and bricks guy again.

I would agree with other posters and would add that, for us, becoming minimalists was a nice surprise. We have no need to shop or even look to the things needed for, and expenses of, a sticks and bricks. And, the volume of clothing has decreased. There is something to be said about living life with a very small carbon footprint. (We've been full-time 10 years.)

No of course it wasn't what we expected.

When you first went to school, was it exactly what you expected?
When you went on your first date, was it exactly what you expected?
When you got your first job, was it exactly what you expected?

Life is full of surprises. The full time lifestyle is also full of surprises. If you can roll with the unexpected with a good attitude, it's an awesome lifestyle, though it does have it's downsides.

1 year so far and I hope I have 30 more. Never a dull moment, well until it gets cold and I am the only one there.

Absolutely, fulltiming the last seven years has been the best time of our lives! As we tell everyone one that ask about fulltiming "we're on vacation the rest of our life", "every day a Saturday" and "home is where we park it".

Sometimes, I will be in a WalMart. I know I am in a WalMart, the question is What Town?

Traveling down the road is my favorite thing to do. I can't say it's always been a bed of roses, but all in all, yeah, it's been great for 10 years.
