Well my wife and I made it the first month. Were currently are in southern Colorado and looking to head south from here. We have made what I think are normal beginner mistakes like leaving black tank...

Congrats. I just passed my 3 month mark. I don't have any mistakes as funny as yours, but I do have one that wasn't so funny at the time, but is now.
It was my first time at a CG. On my last day there I decided to lube the slide seals. I pulled in the bedroom slide halfway so I could reach the seals which opened up a gap under the bed. The noise of the engine and the slide motor had my cat all worked up and he went and hid under the bed....which moves....and houses the slide motor, gears, and cables. I missed my checkout time because of him. I didn't want to risk having him get hurt under there, and he didn't want to risk me getting out of my campsite in time. ;)
I also had a brief moment of panic the other day when the engine wouldnt start. I had parked outside of a CG office, went inside to check in, and then tried to start the engine and nothing. Turns out it doesn't start when you forget to take it out of Drive. Good thing for parking breaks...
