Laundry and the full timer

So what do you do about laundry while full timing?

My wife and I are in the midst of painfully specing out our retirement RV - A large 5th wheeler - Purchase planned for about a year out - we're overplanning. We had a class A for many years but never full timed.

Laundromats? Yeech. Reminds me of my college years. Didn't even want to use them on road trips in the Class-A.

The debate seems to be whether to buy the expensive Splendide units from Camping World (some people say they don't work well) or "normal" units like a apartment w/d unit. Stackers? Side/Side? Did anyone get a dryer that used propane? How big a pain was it to get propane routed correctly.


I'd like to hear peoples opinions.

Full timer since 1997. First 3 years, no W/D but we were in an RV park directly across the street from the parks laundry room. It was also beside the pool so doing laundry was a very nice, clean and relaxing event. No worries. In 2000 we hit the road in our new RV with a Splendide and I would recommend you get a W/D as well UNLESS you are calling full time moving 2-3 times per year and only from 1 resort to the next. I don't want to visit a public laundromat if at all humanly possible. We have to do this sometimes in QZ, AZ while dry camping and we hate every minute of it. I say we, because my wife does not like to go alone and I don't blame her a bit.
You don't have to do laundry everyday as some like to indicate but doing a small load 2-3 times per week is likely the average for us. The good news is that even if you did it everyday, you are home, you are doing other stuff or heading to the pool or off the to grocery. You can do whatever you please and time putting the laundry in and taking it out or those times when you had nothing better to do anyway.
I am not sure why the W/D topics are so incredibly polarizing but do seem to be 2 firmly entrenched camps.
