Laundry and the full timer

Somewhere between Oregon and Texas we were at a laundromat that had a food bar, a big screen tv and a reading room. They also had "cards" that you bought so you didn't have to have coins. I LOVED it! Most laundromats aren't as bad as they used to be, but occasionally you run into a bad one. I just turn around and walk out if it's nasty. :) I love the "wash, dry, fold in 90 minutes" part.....yeah, it's all done, I don't have to remember it all day long. We have to use the laundromats because we don't park in RV parks but maybe 5% of the time. :) :)

Get a vented Splendide 2100. I found this one on Craig's list for $450 in Apple Valley.

I think that if you don't mind a laundromat, then you don't think an onboard laundry is worth it. If you don't like laundromats, then you think having an onboard laundry is most definitely worth it. I don't have one (my rig is too small). I use laundromats. I have never liked a laundromat and I still don't like one. I don't care how nice they are. I don't like them. Also laundromats are scarce in some places. They can also get very pricey. I've got friends that have a homestyle washer (top loader) and LP dryer in their skoolie conversion. They love it and I love it (I use their laundry when I am visiting them at their park). My plan is, after they help their daughter to convert a school bus, to have them help me convert or remodel a skoolie and get a full sized washer & dryer installed.

We had our 2004 prepped for W/D. Ten years later we have not installed them.

We're full-timers so we carry everything with us. We have plenty of clothes to last two weeks. Yesterday I went to a laudramat and did two weeks worth in 1-1/2 hours. I would never be satisfied washing clothes every day. We're out there enjoying life. Also, we're rarely at RV parks with full hookups. Public parks and dry camping are our choice. The gray tank would fill up fast if we washed every day.

We wouldn't feel comfortable putting in a load of wash and then leaving to do something else hoping the washer didn't malfunction. It just seems like you'd be tied to that washer daily and constantly thinking about putting in more laundry. 1-1/2 hours every two weeks is the way to go for us.

To those that think you'd get "cooties" from laundramats, we have never encountered dirty equipment. 95% of the time there is an attendant working who wipes down the washers. Plus, washers wash and then rinse. Why would there be dirt left behind?

We have the Splendide washer/dryer in a side-by-side configuration.
They work great!
Ordered them with our 5th wheel and factory-installed.
Please don't assume you have to buy anything from Camping World.

We plan to do our laundry on a weekly basis at the laundry mat. That is part of the adventure and excitement of camping full time..

We chose not to have onboard washer and drier because it takes up to much space which as fulltimers we need. We use the RV/campground laundry and if thats not suitable we find one. Your missing a chance to meet some great folks at the RV park laundry.

We're in the laundromat crowd. Much rather go, get it done quick, then not even a thought about laundry for a week or two. Seems like those with the on board W/D love 'em though. We just can't stand the idea of having to do a load almost every day.

Couldn't do it without our Splendide washer/dryer. Even doing heavier loads park laundromats.

I guess that would depend on what you want to wash.

I've even done Ts and shorts in a bucket and hung up to dry. Sheets.. that's laundromat time, and the big $3-$5 pro machines. No way I'm putting good sheets in a small agitator washer.
