Life - Flight type of insurance.....what do you do?

We received an ad for Air Med Care.......a membership program that covers the cost of being airlifted should there be an accident or in case of illness. In looking at their "coverage areas", I'm not impressed. We'd not spend much time in most any of the locations.....

Do any of you have this type of coverage.....are there companies out there that I haven't found that cover 100% of the USA for the travelers??? I admit, I haven't asked our insurance agent if our car insurance will cover this.

thanks in advance for any answers!
  • I am. Nothing a little (or a LOT) of titanium couldn't fix.

    Thanks!
  • :) thanks -- by the time we're on the road, we'll both be on Medicare with supplemental. I'll ask when we sign up.

pjzocc --- hope you're recovered completely!!!!!!!
  • Check with your major medical carrier. It may be covered in some cases. When I crashed my motorcycle last year near Pittsburgh, I was airlifted to PittPresby. The helo bill was $13k+. BC/BS covered the whole shibang. (was holding my breath for a couple months though!)
  • The chances of me or mine needing to be airlifted in most of the NE are pretty slim. Will be interested to see what the perceived need is in other parts of the country. I do know that airlifting can be excruciatingly expensive. Also think I'll take the time to call my ins. broker and find out if I'm covered in sparsely populated areas.
    Good question.
