OK, here are two more questions to help us narrow down some of our searching. What have been some of the pluses and minuses of mail forwarding services and how to choose a home base state/city? My guess is you already active full-timers have resolved a lot of these two issues. Thanks again for all your input. Our last inquiry yielded a lot of great info.

We are residence now of SD and love Americas mailbox.. they are so helpful and we have had great luck from them. Our house is in NC, but selling that to become fulltimers. So needed the mailbox, and purchasing a new pickup proved we did the right thing, with only 3% salestax.

Another vote for Americas Mailbox and SD. Super folks, no problems in 7 years. SD insurance rates are some of the lowest in the country for health and vehicles. But the BBQ is better in NC. :)al

I used Alternative Resources in Sioux Falls, SD for many years. They were flawless with my mail, but better yet, they had referrals to a bank who understood fulltiming so that problem was already solved for me. They had another referral to an attorney who also understood fulltiming so I could legally establish my residency, and they were next door to the drivers license place, so that was equally painless.
