I can't speak for you but will give you some insight into our situation/plans and you can take from that to apply to your situation to help give some perspective "maybe".
We will both retire from public service, me Police Officer, the DW Fire (Arson) INvestigator. She will also retire from the Air Force Reserves shortly thereafter. We have been planning for the last 15 years to be "most of the timers". We have been saving money like crazy in Roth IRA's, Deferred Comp plans and I will go into a Deferred Retirement Program for 8 years. Even then we realize that we will need to be frugal when we travel. We have already purchased our "retirement rig", but it is also our 5th rig in 16 years. We bought it now to get a head start on paying it down while we are making significantly more money than we will on pensions.
We are also looking at/researching Work Camping options as a way to stretch the retirement funds. The DW and I both realize we can't afford to keep our current residence when we go on the road most of the year but we still need some place to "root" so we will have to have a condo somewhere warm to get off the road when we are road weary.
This is something that I think takes planning, but I have been told that is my nature.
