Newbie going RV Fulltime in 2015

Hello Rv'ers. I'm a new proud owner of a Flagstaff Elite Class C camper. I've always loved the open road and will be transitioning to a full time RV'er sometime in 2015. I have two questions:

1. Is there a beginners training course were you can get hands-on training hooking up your RV to utilities etc?

2. Where can I find a listing of RV Caravans ?

Thanks in advance!!
  • You are in the right place. (This forum offers a wealth of information, most of it very good).

Join the Good Sam club. They have you tube like videos as do some of the suppliers. For example, CAMCO will have videos describing how to hookup, winterize etc.

When you read various posts, you'll notice that many members have blogs (you'll see a link at the bottom of their signature). Those can be an additional source of information and support and lead you to caravans.

And of course, once you start traveling, you'll find that many RVers are more than happy to share their experiences over the open fire!
  • Check out the Escapees RV Club in this link:

    Escapees RV Club

Membership right now is only $29.95 as a 35th year special. The Club was formed for full-timers but not exclusively.

One thing they do is to have "Boot Camps" for beginners and the next one will be in Livingston, TX in November if you can make it. Their Escapades (rallies) are also very informative with speakers. There are many good perks from joining this Club, especially for full-timers. There is even a group for solo RVers who meet up in different places to take part in many activities. It's NOT a match-making group. :) Their home parks and co-op parks are excellent places to park for a while. They'll be full of full-timers and you can get any help needed. They also sponsor various group tours if that's what you're interested in doing.

Another popular RV caravan group is 'Adventure Caravans'. Check them out, too.

Best of luck in your new lifestyle. We've absolutely loved it for 16 years.

I joined Escapees in September in preparations going Full-Time in 2018.
A lot of good information on the Escapees Forum.
They also have a RV Boot camp in Tucson Arizona in March, next spring if you can't make November's RV Boot camp.
