We FT'd in our 34' 5th wheel for 7 yrs.
Debt free when we hit the road so no truck/rv payments.
Monthly costs (site fees, fuel, electric, maint. costs, Full Timers 'house' ins., vehicle ins., vehicle registrations, etc. etc. came out about the same as our 'S&B House'
Our 5vr is '4-season' rated.....insulation values, enclosed/insulated underbelly, heat ducts into underbelly to keep tanks/drain valves from freezing, attic vented.
We spent some time in snow, cold weather-freezing temps and had no issues other than having to keep propane cylinders refilled.
2 weeks in -14*F temps.....2 30# propane cylinders/7.5 gallons each-----had to refill one every day.
Folks full time in lots of various RVs up in the Dakotas while working oil field. So it can be done.
Is it 'fun'.......NO but they are doing it because of the job.
If FT RVng cheap......NO
Is living FT in a small rig (less than 300 sg. feet) doable....YES
Especially when you travel and experience the adventure.
Parking for any length of time was just NOT for us.
FTng in our RV was about the travel.
If I was trying to lower living expenses and stay stationary/work we would have just downsized.
FTng in an RV is a great adventure.......BUT it ain't for everyone and by no means a savings.
Also consider the truck needed for towing that 5th wheel with......1 ton Dually (due to pin weight). Daily driver?
Good Luck!
