Numerous Jury Duty notices....

I got a jury duty notice (Virginia) while I was in California. I sent the court a letter from California saying that I was out of state and wouldn't be back in state in time to serve. No problem, I was excused.

I can't believe they'd expect you to travel to tell the judge you are too far away to serve. Sorta negates your excuse, doesn't it? What state needs you for a jury so desperately? (What, everybody ELSE flee that state, too?)
