Has never bothered me what other people think. Some people drive Fords, some people drive Chevys. Some people FT, others don't. I always do what I think is best for me at the time and don't really care what others think. I have heard comments you posted though. Just let it go. Everybody doesn't realize the enjoyment of RVing. Good thing because it is hard enough finding good places to park our RV:B
