One month and counting!

SB is set to close Aug 1st. 8 years ago we purchased a lot in a membership park near Lake Stevens Washington. We are here this weekend in our new 2017 Bighorn 3575el 5th wheel. Today we rented a storage locker near by, got a mail box at near by Mail Zone and checked out a place to move our 24' box off a box truck.

We have wintered in Arizona for 8 years in the previous 31' 5er, new one is 39' 4". DW wants to purchase a park model in our Az park. So we are snowbirds/sunbirds and have little desire to just wonder about around the country. We are however facing many of the same issues regarding insurance, store or discard "stuff". Have sold a lot of stuff at community garage sale and plan another moving sale towards the end of the month.

Couple buying the SB our going to purchase a lot of the furniture from the home.

So at this point we think hangin onto things like pressure washer and other items makes sense, because we will be returning to the same summer park. We will also store our golf cart in the box during the winter as have in pass years.

The big questions are do we buy the park model(DW really wants it) and should we purchase the lot across the street in the summer park for parking, visitors and a second storage shed? Decisions decisions!

We will take the new Bighorn South for the next few years either way. If we buy the park model, we will take short trips around Az with the 5er during the winter. We can store it in a sister Cal-Am park out the back gate at a very reasonable rate.

Life is hectic right now.

Sept 2015 sold the boat without listing it.

Day the boat sold we wired money to John Elway Ram dealership in Greeley, Go. Jumped on a plane and drove a new 2015 RAM 3500 Laramie SRW home 1400 miles in 48 hours.

Sold to old Ram a week later to someone who contacted while returning from Colorado.

Took old trailer and new RAM to Arizona for Jan-Mar. Looked at new trailers in Arizona and settled on the BH3575el. Looked at one in California on the way home in April.

Got home and sold the large inflatable that boat buyer did not take, sold the old trailer and bought the Bighorn in early May.

DW sold the house to the lady in the next chair at the beauty salon. We had met them looking at the house next door, which they did not get as there were two people ahead of them.

Did I say life has been hectic?

I just found this section on RV.net, so will be hanging for advice and asking questions. Chris

We have a park model in Val Vista and spend the winter there and travel in the motorhome for the summer (we're at Thunderbird in Monroe right now). We will probably do this for a few more years, then when it is to much work to handle the DP, we will spend most of the year in Mesa with maybe a couple of car trips to higher elevations during July & August. I love having the PM for the winter - leave all winter clothes there, all of the decorations, etc. After 9 years in the MH 24/7, it is nice to spread out for a few months and recharge the batteries.

Hey Barb we tried to say hi while at Val Vista the first week of Feb 2015 and never found you home. We will be living at Lake Connor Park starting Aug 1st not far from Monroe, maybe we can meet up with you guys. Chris

We'll be on the Oregon coast by then. But give us a heads up when you get to Mesa and we will arrange somehting.

    4 season warranty fine print...

(Please consult your owners manual for complete warranty details) (Using an RV in temperatures above 80 degrees or below 32 degrees Fahrenheit will require additional equipment to properly cool the RV or prevent freezing of the RV systems and components. Additional care or preventative measures should always be exercised when using an RV in extreme temperatures.)

Yes the 2 15000 BTU ACs will not cool it in really hot weather. Maybe another reason to let DW get her park model.

  • Six month limit here at the membership park. Two lots does not work to stay longer. Dues are around 1K/per, but the lot is like money in the bank. We love Canyon Vistas in Gold Canyon, Az. Park model is on desert with great sunsets. If DW is happy I will most likely be happy. Chris

Stay mobile my friend; 100 percent! Park politics might get to you sooner or later. Picking up second lot, not bad because you'll have storage if it has a shed and probably cheaper than paying storage. Plus protect your privacy. And might be able to stay year round (depending on what has changed last 10 years in by-laws). If so you'll always have a place in case you have to stay "wet" up here in winter because of medical reasons. Park models usually move one time then self destruct over the years.
