One more time

Have not been RVing for a several years now but after finding the tax bill in the mail box yesterday we are ready to get back on the road and enjoy life. We are looking at South Dakota for residency and a Class C motor home. We are not rich but get by well enough. Always had 5th wheels and trucks before to travel in. Our goal is to follow the warm weather as the seasons change as neither of us enjoy snow and ice. Health is becoming a concern for me so we will be looking at this when we decide to pick a destination when traveling. Would like feed back on this subject and it would be greatly appreciated.
  • Welcome back to RV'ing. I live in Canada but your plan sounds good to me.
  • Ours is age, both hubby and I are pushing 80 but in good health. We bought a Class B and while its a bit cramped, I love that we can park anywhere and just about go anywhere. We are leaving hopefully next month and plan to hug the Mexican border from Calif to Texas and then start working out way northwest to make a huge loop.
What ever you chose to buy, make sure your both comfortable driving it.
  • Are you considering a toad? Won’t have a TV to drive around as you formerly did.
  • I’d suggest you look at some of the new Class A gassers in the 30-32 length instead. Better vision and storage. Also, if you are thinking of following the 75 degree mark, you will be spending a lot of time south of I-10. Why not think about that area for ‘home’, with physicians you see every year. If you are on Medicare, you will find physicians in sunbelt states readily take Medicare. We switched our physicians to AZ 5 years ago, caught some things that had been missed when we only scheduled 2weeks for checkups.
  • Thanks for all of the reply's. We are taking our TJ Wrangler as a towed using a tow dolly or aluminum trailer. A bit concerned about things going on at the border right now as far as being around I-10 from California to Texas. We will include class B units as we continue searching for the right unit. Yes doctors will be important along the way and we will have that mapped out as well. We had a lot of fun before and met lots of great people back in the 90s to 2011. We had a Ram 3/4 ton 4X4 truck and a 27 ft. 5th wheel the last 4 years of being on the road, the truck was great...the 5th wheel was "horrible"! Oh well lessons learned. Will keep you all posted as we continue putting this together. Thanks again for the help.
  • Just remember that the weight of the trailer counts as weight of the coach. This means that whatever the trailer weighs, you can't carry that much in the coach. You have to look at the GCWR
  • Does anyone have a recommendation for a Class C dealer? Most dealers in our area sell only travel trailers.
