Planner here. I spend winter months after determining the general area we want to visit. Last year it was Colorado. So leaving FL at end of March meant staying South for a while, so using the internet, Google Maps, and Excell spread sheet, worked out a ziggy month long route to El Paso, Tx, another month around NM, then two months in CO. Every nite reserved mostly in State & Nat'l Parks for several days or week at a time. We then meander over to Indiana to see family and back to Fl by Nov 1. Third year in a row using this method. Never tow over 200 miles at a time and often, under a 100. Never rush, never worry about getting there early for a good site, plenty of time to thoroughly explore local area. This year, Wyoming, but won't be a straight line, and will have reservation every nite, including Yellowstone.
