I guess it’s different strokes for different folks. Semantics aside, I am also a full-timer and the difference I see is that camping in your RV is probably a novelty for those who do so for 2-4-months or so at a time, or for a weekend, but it is a lifestyle for full-time RV’ers.
I am a former college teacher and some teachers would develop lesson plans for each class, including myself, while other teachers would just walk into the classroom with no plan and spontaneously start an open discussion on a topic.
I can see the adventure in not planning, but speaking only for myself I can relax more if I had the rudiments of a plan. Looking back over my life the two most things in my behavior which I contribute to my success are 1) having a good attitude and realizing that everything is useful, and 2) being organized. The organization part probably comes from my spending many years in the Army.
I am looking at going to Panama in my RV and sometime down the road taking a trip to Alaska as well, both which I feel requires some planning. I am also thinking about putting my RV in storage while I take a flight to either New Zealand or Europe, rent an RV in those places and tour that region in a rented RV; return to the U.S. after awhile, get my RV out of storage and resume my fulltime lifestyle here. These are things that I am planning.
I’ve met a lot of Europeans who come here to the U.S. and rent an RV to tour the U.S. To me that’s a lot better than getting a hotel room.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year To Everyone! :)
