registering ups box on pa license, vehicle registration etc.

Hi, I apologise if this has been asked before but couldn't find anything when I searched. We are going to be full timing it from aug 30 and wanted to know if anyone on here is domiciled in pa and could give me an idea on how the dmv approached your address change if you use a ups box. We have one but have no idea if they would even accept it especially because it has a street address and a suite #.
We decided to stay in pa til the end of the year, then change domicile next year. If you have had to explain your situation to the dmv were they understanding?
We have no family here in pa or the USA. Is there a way we can approach this that will be less of a headache?
Thank you very much.

  • Just wanted to leave an update. We successfully changed our address online to our pmb with drivers and registration. No questions,no fuss and received confirmation in the mail at our new address with a piece of paper to keep with our licenses showing the address change.

thank you all for your replies.
  • Hope it goes smoothly for you. I recently built a new home in PA. In changing six registrations and several DLs over to the new address, I was shut down on line, every time. The system failed to recognize my physical address. Apparently the system is "smart" enough that it flagged this new address as not being a residence. Once I talked to a customer service rep. they could override the flag and get me entered. Interesting, this same issue came up with a bank and even the local cable TV provider. Scary to think how much info is out there.

Exactly what I did with my license, registration and the title on my new truck. Nobody questioned anything.
  • When you do a Change of Address online in some states, it immediately reads the 'official' address from the USPS. As long as it matches and/or the CC address (if there's a fee involved) hasn't changed recently or is the same, there's no problem.
  • Why not make the domicile change now? If you are going to make the change in a few weeks, I'm not sure I'd even bother with the change of address for the current license - - just like you do when moving across the country, travel with your current license to your new domicile and then change.

  • No problem for me. I just did a change of address at the PennDOT website.
  • Different states require different things for residency. I have no idea about PA.

I would just go in and do a change of mailing address you can get your mail anywhere. I would not say anything about you physical address and from the searches I did I could not find anything saying you need one in PA for a drivers license.

Most times they will want a physical address for vehicle registrations because of taxes, but was unable to find any codes on it for in the PA dot.

A lot of places you need to uphold your state residency to keep the license. I live in SD because of there laxed residency laws and they will let you do 99.99% of the DMV paper work by internet. SD will also drop your jury duty if you call them with in 30 days of them setting out the letters, a lot of states are very stick about there jury duty.
