Florida versus Texas - Always a lively debate. TN is great but not if you want to avoid snow completely. My parents retired to Florida 33 years ago. As someone else stated, no tax on investments anymore. As I recall, your license plate goes with the person, so the first one is expensive, but you keep transferring that plate going forward with a reasonable annual fee. My dad passed away a couple of years back, and my mother passed away on September 20 of this year. There were no taxes associated with their estate.
We looked into moving permanently to San Antonio Texas when I first retired. We even drove there specifically to look at real estate (strictly business, not a vacation). We found that owning a home in San Antonio was not the great deal we thought it would be.
But FT RVing in Texas could still be very advantageous since property taxes (and uncapped potential increases in property taxes) were the single biggest drawback for us personally. But you would not be paying property taxes, at least not directly.
