I would avoid Texas myself. you have to go back every few years and renew stuff/get an inspection, or some such. I know folks here say that is no problem but I wouldn't want the requirement unnecessarily.

That is so untrue! Why do you keep repeating it when it is UNTRUE. We were gone 2 years this time, drove in, had the coach inspected, good to go. Same with the car. Just do it WHENEVER you get back to Texas.
Tennessee - - make sure you understand the procedure for voting. Heard a lot of people had problems in one or two counties. Also, how reliable is the mail service? Know at least one outfit in Tennessee that just closed the doors and walked away and left people high and dry.
We are Escapees, use Livingston as our address, have had no problems in the 7 years we have been using them. Voted by mail (if you are over 65 in Texas, just send in the request, ballot will be mailed to your normal address); jury duty is never a problem, if you get a request, you just call and let them know you are an Escapee and out of the area. Then when you are in Livingston, call and volunteer. Usually they don't need you, but you never know. Also, if you are not on Medicare, take a close look at what insurance is available and whether or not you have to be in a state for a certain number of months.
