Forget Nevada, we were residents there before we went fulltime, they have high registration fees. Our 2005 Dodge Dually was $475 in NV, when we registered it in SD it was $60 I think, then after 5 years it went down to $42. This year SD raised it's registrations, on our 2012 Ford it was $90. There's no fee to bring a vehicle into SD, that's TX. We have been very happy as SD residents. My Home Address in Emery, SD makes everything easy. Gather all the info you can about FL & TX, call any of the mail forwarding places in SD and they would be happy to answer your questions about SD residency.
