Ive been a Florida resident for 20 years but recently moved into rv no home anymore......I read a lot about establishing residency but what about this situation....do I now just find a mail forward service and get new fla address to use? I will be in florida in winter working in other states as well. I actually have mail go tomom and dads since dont get much with om line bills etc. Do I still need the fla address to show residency? parents are in Massachusetts and thats jyst mail......help. thank you in advance, been fulltime since april and never going back to stick house......kristine

  • Renewals from State come by mail. Do you want them coming to the campground? We've found not all CG's even accept mail or pkgs.

Even though you can renew online in FL, the tag renewals and new DL have to go somewhere to stick on your tag.

That's why we opted for a med-size box. Small would have been less annual cost, but we used to get more mail. But we went from every 2 wks to once a month to save money. You could have mail forwarded annually or go pick it up yourself if you're in the area.
  • Ok I agree I dont need mail forwarding. Moms address is in massachusetts works and dont need bills etc with online banking. But think I need address in fla for driver licence etc. I do plan to live in Fla part of year and work etc.
  • DH started working in FL and we lived in a Corp Apt. Then bought a 5er and switched to full timing. Knew we didn't want mail coming to the campground, so we opened a UPS Store box. DH changed the address on his FL DL to UPS Store address and they asked for a physical address. So he gave them the CG address.

It's a little different now because of HL security restrictions, but he can vote in FL and all tags are FL. We haven't lived in FL since 2005, he works in multiple states, pays their state taxes except when we're between projects.
  • You'll need to have a legal address for driver's license renewal, insurance, etc. If you change it to mom's and they handle your mail for you then you won't need a mail forwarding service.

If you want to remain a FL resident, I can recommend http://www.sbimailservice.com/index.html. Been using it for 7+ yrs without problem.

Ditto... As a Florida native with family there, domicile made sense in the RV friendly State. Returning after 15 years of life in the Carolinas , SBI made the transition easy providing not only mail service, but a permanent address in compliance with Homeland Security. No complaints in 7 or 8 years.
