RV Insurance

I had an incredible teaching opportunity come my way and will be on the road full time for the next 6 months. When we got insurance on our Winnebago (December 2011) our agent asked if we were living in it. At the time we weren't. Now things have changed. While I can pick the normal carriers, I'm looking for a provider who has a combination of excellent coverage at a fair rate and outstanding service. I would be looking for full coverage.

PM me if more comfortable.

  • National Interstate Insurance specializes in full timers. They insure the RV and tow vehicle or toad. They include Coach Net roadside assistance in the policy premiums. We've used the roadside assistance once and it was great. We used the insurance for cracked windshield and they were friendly and expedited the claim. I don't know how their rates compare but they were cheaper than the other company we had before we changed to them. You can get a quote from an independent agent who carried their line.
  • In theory, you shouldn't have to change your coverage.
Your coverage is based on miles driven to some degree, but not if you are living in it...at least I don't believe it is. I wasn't asked if I was living in my RV when I got coverage....and I got full-coverage from GMAC.
That said, you may want to contact a few different agencies, to see what they say. I'm sure you'll hear from many of the F/T people on this site, who can help too.

Good Luck, and success with that new job!
