We have had DirecTV for all of our 9 years as full-timers. It was very easy to get and we have not had any appreciable problems. When we went full-time, we simply transfered the receiver from our home to our RV. We have gone through a couple of receiver DVR upgrades over time. It is possible to get HD if you have the right equipment, receiver and dish.

Ditto on DirecTV. We have used it for over 20 years; the last 10 years in the motorhome. Get both East and West coast programming. However, must have an HD equipped dish to receive HD.

People seem about equally pleased (and sometimes displeased) with both Dish and Directv. We have had Dish both at home and in the RV for years and have been very happy. And we do get HD.

Rather than get east or west coast feeds, we call Dish, get reprogrammed, and get network and local programming from the nearest large city to where we are on any given day.

Dish works well for us. HD is no problem, and there's no extra fee for "HD for Life" if you select electronic billing and autopay. When we change locations, a 5 minute online chat session is all it takes to get the local stations for whatever market we're currently in. We moved from Kingsland, GA to Lake Panasoffkee, FL today. This morning we watched the Jacksonville, FL locals (Kingsland is about 30 miles north of JAX), and now we're watching the Orlanda, FL locals. We really prefer getting the local news and weather for the area we're in. Sometimes we can get the same stations OTA, but not always.

there are only 3, shaw, direct, dish. you pick which one you like. and yes, americans can get shaw through private us companies.

I have Direct and love their DNS service where you get east or west coast feeds. If you use a DVR to record your favorite network programs your channel numbers never change as you change physical locations. Set your programs to record and forget them.

I have Dish and I like it because I found more choices for antennas that can get HD. I also think that the channel guide is easier to use. I had compared both before my purchase. That being said, I think you would be fine with either of them.

We have DirectTV. Had the Travler automatic dish installed on top of the fiver. The plus side: it works very well and we get all the HD channels, it finds the signals within a couple minutes of pushing the button while setting up. The negative side: it will only work with Direct. We have not received any upgrade offers from Direct for 3 years and are not satisfied with our old DVR equipment. We called them and they will upgrade us for $400. We would switch to Dish Network in a second but the Travler dish mounted on the roof, that cost about $1,800 installed, will only work with Direct.

If Direct hasn't offered a deal in 3 years I would call them and ask to speak with the Retention Department. They can do anything to keep you as a customer. I think this is the time to definitely "Tease the Gorilla".
