Satellite TV

I will be taking possession of my 2015 Sightseer soon. The unit has three televisions...Living room, Bedroom, and Outside. I'm looking for recommendations on satellite antenna systems. Here are our desires:

> Ability to watch different channels on each TV
> DirecTV with DVR capability on each TV
> Automatic satellite locator capability

Any suggestions?
  • We have a Winguard Travler dish mounted on top of our fiver. This is the second fiver we have had one of these installed on.

Our DirectTV DVR and other boxes came directly from our stick built prior to us selling it and going full time.

The Travler dish is fully automatic and is completely HD. We have the exact same package anyone else would have.

It is a little pricey though. I think installed we paid around $2,000.
  • Does each TV has a single RG6 coax that runs to the central location where the sat antenna lead comes in from outside? If so you might consider what I did. If not DirecTV has wireless capabiity now as well.

I have DirecTV with a slimline dish and a tripod from www.tv4rv.com, HR44 Genie DVR, HR24 DVR (a Genie mini would work also, I just had this DVR already).

This system works great and has worked for a long time. The dish is easy to set up using the tripod mentioned above.
  • I know they make dual band LNB's (2 TV's - different programming) but 3 - I'm not sure they make any automatic one, but they do make a "point it yourself" model: Mobile Satellite Tri Band

None of the Satellite manufacturers suggest using any kind of DVR in an RV, due to limitations of the performance of the equipment.

The best state of the art, dual band LNB available for DirecTV SD only, Dish SD or HD, and Bell (Canada) is the Winegard Carryout G2

    Winegard Carryout G2

They can be bought online for $568.00 (no tax free shipping)
