I am newly retired from Michigan, who now taxes retirement income, have been giving some thought to "relocating to a different state". What do you need to document your move to a new State, when you travel full time?
Set up a mail forwarding service so you have a 'physical' address.
They can also handle registering your vehicle for SD plates (for a fee)
Then you drive over to SD....stay one night and keep receipt. Get the receipt in BOTH names.
Next day go to local Department of Public Safety office with proper documentation and application for DL and sign an affidavit as to SD being your only state of 'domicile'
Register to vote, change of address, change your will/trust, banking etc.
SD DPS.......LINK
Also check into medical coverage/insurance available in SD.
Do you have to take your MH to SD and spend a night or can you just fly in and do all the paperwork??
