Seasonal camping full-time

We are getting so close to going full time I don't believe I can wait. We are looking at Myrtle Beach Travel Park from October through March. Since last December we have spent a total of six weeks or so there. We have found it and the folks there to be absolutely wonderful. For the "summer" home we have been looking in the North Georgia mountains as well as mountains of NC and SC. We found a few but not the "one". Not really interested in a deeded lot but would rather rent or lease the site. Does anyone have suggestions to look at in these locations or even somewhere else that you fell in love with?

  • Bryanpark2, If you have any questions about River Vista RV Resort in Dillard, GA, please feel free to PM me. We spend May-Oct here and love it. If you haven't already done so, check out their WEBSITE and FACEBOOK site. It can give you valuable info also.
  • Thanks, I have looked at most of these and would like to see if there were other options that folks new about.

We fell in love with the north Georgia mountains and recently purchased a lot at Rivers Edge Rv Resort in Blairsville, GA. These are privately owned lots, but many owners rent them out.

We are hoping to get back up to Rivers Edge soon and stay until it gets cold, but we will also be renting our lot out when we're not there.

We've been looking for years to find an RV Lot to sit on once we go to working part-time. Finally bought one at River's Edge Phase I last year sight unseen. Bought it from a private party and they are carrying the contract for us. We looked at Phase II online, but would have needed too many upgrades like a concrete pad to get it ready for our Suite. So far, we haven't rented ours out, but may do that in the future.

We chose Blairsville, Union County over White or Rabun county and nothing was in Gilmer in our price range.

We used to have Time Share in Mountain Lakes in White Co, but we didn't like the RV section. Also, we have family in North GA, so it works better for us than FL or TX, where we've also considered buying.

We found a nice place in Cleveland GA, called Paradise Valley

A nice place we looked at in Dillard Georgia called River Vista

Elkmont Rv park which is near Helen ( I believe)

These are some of the places we looked before purchasing our lot. They are all privately owned lots, but many can be rented out. We liked them all.

  • If this was posted in the snowbird forum, I think you would have gotten several responses that Myrtle Beach will be a bit chilly during the winter in an RV. Also the further north you are the shorter the days will be in the winter.

We spent one damp cold month in our MH once. That's all it took for us to rule out ever doing that again. YMMV
  • Are you just limiting yourself to two places? Why not take the summer and move around and explore lots of great areas in the north. That's why RVs have wheels underneath them.

  • If you decide to stay anywhere near Helen GA, you should probably plan on increased GVW. Besides the German food, they have a couple of fudge shops that are addicting.
