A travel trailer is a good option to consider so good for you. The upside of that option is that it is cheaper and easier to maintain the cargo van than is it the MH. Having the van also gives you a storage unit on wheels.
The down sides of the TT are that most TTs are not build for living in. they are built for vacationing in so things are not as well built. Most of them tend to have very little insulation in them so as bad as a MH is, Ive found the TT to be a bit more extreme. Also they don't have the gray/black and clean water capacity that a MH has. They tend to have smaller tanks. This is of no concern as long as you are staying in campgrounds that have full hookups.
TTs also don't tend to have much for battery power. Again this is of no concern if your staying in a campground with full hookups. I seasonal camped in TTs fro years and could have lived in it full time if not for the brutal New England winters. So as long as your in a mild climate you should be fine.
You will find that your $10k budget gets you a lot more Travel Trailer than it does Motorhome.
