We repack yearly. The grease in the outer bearing was still good, though the bearing had fallen apart. The inner bearing was welded to the axle and the grease has burned up during that event. It was weird.
Repair shop found that a weld near the hub had cracked and allowed the wheel to track about 10 degrees off alignment. Found smaller cracks on welds on both sides of both axles.
