I'm looking at the large van conversion as a tiny house. So on the outside it looks like an shuttle bus but on the inside it's an rv.
A used shuttle is a good place to start with 2 exceptions.
- Used shuttle buses are COMPLETELY WORN OUT. The chassis and powertrain are well be beyond their design life. I am not just talking about shocks and springs. Engine, transmission, axles, etc. etc. If it saw service in the rust belt, even the frame could be rotten.
- How do you deal with all of those windows ?
If you are really handy and don't mind the work, start by buying a
new "cut away" chassis. Use a metal floor. Sides made from 1x1 metal tubing and rigid foam insulation
(use 2x2 if you are going to be in extreme climates). The roof should be metal and "roll over" the side
(join the walls on the vertical with Z-flashing)
