We have now been fulltiming for four months in our tt/truck combo. We have about 13K miles in that time, though maybe 1/2 is just the truck by itself. We move every 3-5 days, sometimes 50 miles, sometimes 300 miles. We started out with this set up because we already had the truck and we did not want to invest too much into a lifestyle we weren't 100% sure we would enjoy.
We really like our set-up. The diesel 4X4 truck gives us the power to drag the trailer around but still allows us to go off road when we like. We have plenty of storage and a lot of space when we are stuck in the tt. We have solar panels so we spend a lot of time dry camping - we can last up to 6 days without trying too hard on our water tanks.
However, we find that we really really like to travel off road a lot. And our truck is sometimes too big for some of the trails. And our tt is definitely too big to get around on some of the trails. So, we are currently considering a class C and jeep set up. But, we want a diesel under 30' (why we are looking at Cs rather than As). But, we really don't want to give up our downtime space either. I don't think a perfect set up exists, you just need to find what suits you best.
