TT or 5th

I am going to full time it when I retire. I would rather pull a TT. Is a 5 er so much better?

  • They are definitely roomier inside. Also less sway and they track behind the tow vehicle much easier.
  • Never owned a 5er. but in the end, only you can decide which is best for your. I think the biggest trade-offs between the 2 are the use of truck bed vs storage of the basement in the 5er. I think second are steps. Face it, 5er's have more steps. Considering I had knee surgery about 3 weeks ago and I still feel like my leg has been run over by a steam roller, I'll never have a 5er... too many steps... I just can't do it now. Getting up into my own TT is a real challenge right now. I can't imagine when I'm older. Some say hitching his quicker and easier with a 5er. For the length, you get more camper with a 5er, but, you do need a sturdy truck with a 5er whereas a TT is a little more forgiving. Towing ... as a TT owner you should know as good as anyone... if your TT and TV are a good match and you are hitch correct with a reasonable good hitching system, a TT can tow as comfortable as a 5er.

So, basically it comes right down to your own wants and wishes, and health. If you have the health, the truck, and don't mind giving up the bed of your truck, I REALLY think you'll enjoy a 5er. (but you know ... I "could" be wrong there since I've never owned one!)
