Unlimited streaming wifi??

Changing over to the MILLENICOM 20GB plan that uses the good VERIZON NETWORK is not too bad a deal. We also have the low GB VERIZON MIFI PLAN but only use it for checking emails, keeping in touch with the kids, and paying some bills on-line. The MILLENICOM used to cost around $80 a month but may have just recently gone up a few dollars. Mobile HOTSPOTS and Mobile INTERNET is becoming the way to go these days.

We would definitely look at the MILLENICOM NETWORK if we started to do some serious downstreaming. ALot of folks like the VERIZON JETPACK package as well for larger database plans.

We get by just fine now using the OTA BATWING antenna picking up the digital HDTV from the NATIONAL BROADCAST network being transmitted from the local towns where we camp. TV signals are full blown high def and are free to view...

I've had the Millenicom MiFi for about a year now. You buy the MiFi from them (actually has Verizon stickers on it) and the system runs on the Verizon network. Price for 20 Gigs is $90 as of 1 May. It used to be $70. Still a pretty good deal I think.

The MiFi serves as a router for up to 10 wireless devices.

Your stationary friends are stationary and get CABLE internet which can then be shared with a router (wirelessly) to the other devices in the home. No such option exists for us mobile users. You can travel from McDonald's to Starbuck's to.....whatever....and get a free wifi connection there, but if you want to have your own internet connection available when YOU want it and where YOU want it we are all stuck with cellular internet and the exact parameters you describe.
I use a Cradlepoint router to allow the addition of local WiFi networks on the rare occasion that they are available AND worth using but otherwise, you give up all streaming and use the internet for e-mail and basic surfing. Using the Millenicom option (now $90/month) extends your data to 20GB/month which would allow some streaming but nothing even close to what the fixed location users can do.

Maybe you should rent movies from redbox for a buck and use the internet for e-mail, pay bills, occasional surfing. You can also rent movies from your local library - some are free, some are $1. There are much cheaper alternatives.

Exactly!!!!

We have plenty of DVD's that we use and find the streaming of videos and using data well...doesn't make sense.

This is my thought as well. Since I'm a long term full-timer that works in a stationary spot I'm fortunate enough to have a cable modem, but before that I was using DVD rentals for movies.

I've heard recently that changes at melinicon have rendered the, less good than they have been.

We have Comcast cable at the S&B, at unreal speeds both up and down.

Not long ago, I tried switching to AT&T dsl, cause Comcast p***sed me off, the fallout from my significant other and my offspring brought us back to Comcast within just a few months. Comcast gives like 30gb/sec up, 10gb/sec down. just unreal, better than a full T1.

As we look ahead to our future fulltime lifestyle, I cringe in fear of the shreds my DW and 16yo son will tear me into when the internet they had no longer exists.....

But HE double hockey sticks, they can just get the HE double hockey sticks over it.

For now, the best anyone is going to get is Verizon. And they are expensive.

FWIW with new Millenicom plan (by the way change forced by Verizon) price increase of May 1, you will now also be able to get an additional 20GB on the same device. Thus allowing up to 40GB per month. Of course you will pay an additional $90 for the additional gigabytes. Previously you had to buy a second device to get more than 20GB.

I feel your pain. We are seriously planning to return to the road in a "part time" basis (7-8 months per year) and need the internet for homeschooling my two kids and my work. The best answers I have found is for our family to purchase two Millenicom MiFi sets and get our Verizon phones to have a 20 gig data plan. I am HOPING this will meet our needs.

We want to be on the road, but my family uses a fair amount of data.
